" Harajuku street portraits "
Today’s Harajuku contains a section called “Ura-Hara” (Underground Harajuku), with a recently opened flagship store of a famous fashion brand from abroad, and trendy fashion shops which line up in the residential area. “Ura-Hara” is a growing epicenter not only for fashion, but for food trends from abroad such as popcorn and pancakes. Due to the international popularity of the Harajuku Kawaii culture, Harajuku culture is the center of attention not only in Japan but of the world as well. Harajuku is a chic area, filled with trendy shops where fashionable young adults and adults gather to give birth to even newer forms of fashion and culture.
Those enjoying the city of Harajuku can immerse in the fun and fulfilling activities that is unique to Harajuku , and spend a freeing time all to themselves.
I attempted to express the mysterious atmosphere that defines Harajuku by taking portraits of the people that walk by here.
For me, the city felt like one globe, with visitors from all over the world.
Moreover, I felt sure that within this city is a unique world, with no borders or racial discrimination, and men and women of all ages can live equally.
I want as many people as possible to know about and experience Harajuku culture and what it represents? the importance of a peace that exists so close by to the Japanese people.
